Overview
Every flagship northern park, an ancient gorge and enough days to enjoy all of it.
Four parks need ten days if none is to be rushed, and this plan gives each its due. You cross the Serengeti plains while the Great Migration is on the move, drop into Ngorongoro Crater where animals are concentrated more tightly than almost anywhere in Africa, follow Tarangire's elephants between the baobabs, and pass through Lake Manyara, known for pink flamingo shallows and lions that climb trees.
Along the way a visit to Olduvai Gorge, often called the Cradle of Mankind, swaps the binoculars for a look at where early human history was uncovered. You travel in a vehicle reserved for your party, led by a guide who speaks English, so sightings decide the tempo instead of a group schedule.

What you can expect to see
The northern parks can be visited year-round. June to October is the dry season and the easiest time for game viewing, with Tarangire at its best for elephants. January and February suit the calving season in the southern Serengeti, and the green months of April, May and November offer fewer vehicles and lower rates.
