About Elephant Springs

Elephant Springs is centred on a natural spring that brings elephant and other wildlife past the property. For a mid-range lodge, that is a real asset, since some of your wildlife watching can happen from your own seat without a game drive. It adds a layer of wildlife viewing that is easy to enjoy between outings.

The accommodation is a collection of cottages of timber and stone scattered beneath the acacias. The design is warm and natural, with an open-sided lounge and dining area under a reed ceiling, and an infinity pool deck that looks over the bushland. Stone walls and timber keep everything in tune with the landscape.

The lodge sits in the wider Tarangire region and suits travellers who want character and comfort without paying luxury prices. It also gives you an easy pace, with time to watch the landscape between drives rather than rushing from one thing to the next. It is a calm, characterful base for a few nights in the Tarangire area.

  • Centred on a natural spring that attracts elephants and other animals
  • Timber-and-stone cottages scattered among acacia trees
  • Infinity pool deck overlooking the bushland
  • Suites with canopy-netted beds and freestanding tubs
  • Open-sided lounge and dining area with a reed ceiling
  • Scenic views of Tarangire's wild country

Setting

The lodge lies in the Tarangire region, among acacia bushland that forms part of the wider ecosystem around the national park. The spring is the heart of the place, and animals moving in to drink shape the daily rhythm. From the pool deck and cottages, the view runs out across scrubby woodland, with the landscape changing colour through the day.

Rooms and tents

Guest cottages are made of timber and stone, spaced among the acacia trees for privacy. Suites feature a canopy-netted bed and a freestanding tub set beside a stone feature wall, giving a rustic yet refined feel. Expect comfortable, well-finished rooms where natural materials create a warm, grounded atmosphere rather than a stark modern look.

Dining

Meals are served in an open-sided lounge and dining area with green sofas and a reed ceiling, so the bush is part of every meal. The full-service restaurant is a relaxed place to gather after a day out. A drink by the infinity pool before dinner is a pleasant routine, and we can help with any dietary needs in advance.

Things to do from here

  • Game drives in Tarangire National Park
  • Watching wildlife visit the spring
  • Birdwatching around the lodge
  • Cooling off in the infinity pool
  • Sundowners with views over the bush

When to stay

June to October is the strongest period in Tarangire, when dry weather draws animals toward water and the spring becomes especially appealing. The long rains arrive roughly from March to May, turning the bush green and dispersing wildlife, and the short rains follow around November and December. Visits in the drier months usually give the best chance of seeing animals near the property.

Good to know

  • Wildlife at the spring is wild and cannot be promised, and visits vary by season and day.
  • The lodge is in the Tarangire region rather than inside the park, so park entry is arranged separately.
  • Ask us to confirm family arrangements and child policies before booking.
  • Lemala arranges transfers and fits this stay into your wider northern itinerary.
