About Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti brings the brand's polished hospitality to the middle of the plains. The buildings curve around a waterhole of their own, so the view from the terrace is never quite the same twice. Thatched rooflines and warm timber keep the whole place rooted in the landscape rather than set against it.
That waterhole is the lodge's quiet centrepiece. Elephants, buffalo and other thirsty visitors may wander in while guests sit with a drink at sunset, though wildlife is always wild and nothing can be promised. What you can count on is a front-row seat, comfortable loungers and a terrace made for slow evenings after a long day out.
Beyond the waterhole, the lodge offers a pool, a spa and suites with private decks, which suits travellers who want real indulgence at the heart of the park. The central Serengeti is a place to stay put and let the plains come to you, and this lodge makes that easy to enjoy in style.
- Sunset terrace lounge overlooking the lodge's own waterhole
- Thatched private villas, some with their own plunge pool
- Suites with four-poster beds and pool-view decks
- A wine cellar dining table among stocked racks
- Spa and swimming pool in the middle of the Serengeti
- Central position for game drives across the open plains
Setting
The lodge sits in the central Serengeti, the part of the park most travellers picture when they imagine East Africa: open grassland, scattered acacia and a very long horizon. Buildings face outward across the plains and down to the waterhole, so the view is part of every room and terrace. Predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah are all found in the wider park, and the herds pass through on their own schedule.
Rooms and tents
Accommodation is arranged as suites and private villas under thatch, with a generous, airy feel. Photographs show four-poster beds, decks that open towards a pool, and plunge pools set above the plains in the villas. Expect soft furnishings, large windows and the kind of finish you would associate with a top city hotel, relocated to the bush. Ask us which room types suit your group best.
Dining
Meals are a real part of the stay here. The terrace by the waterhole is a natural spot for sundowners and relaxed evenings, and the lodge also has a wine cellar dining table, where racks of bottles line the walls for a more private occasion. Expect a polished, international-leaning kitchen with attentive service. Ask us to pass on dietary needs and celebrations in advance so they can be arranged properly.
Things to do from here
- Morning and afternoon game drives in the central Serengeti
- Sundowners and wildlife watching from the waterhole terrace
- Spa treatments after a day on safari
- Swimming and sunbathing by the pool
- Sunrise balloon flight, arranged through Lemala
When to stay
The Serengeti is at its best from July to October, when the dry season makes wildlife easier to find and the Mara River crossings draw the crowds, and again in January and February, when the plains turn green. The long rains usually fall from March to May and the short rains in November and December. Many guests find the shoulder periods quieter, with excellent light for photography.
Good to know
- This is a luxury property, so rates are higher than mid-range camps. Ask us for current pricing and what is included.
- Wildlife at the waterhole is never guaranteed. Game drives and the terrace together give you the best chance of good sightings.
- Activities such as balloon flights are optional extras. Lemala can arrange them and advise on timing.
- Ask us to confirm family and child arrangements before you book, as policies can vary.
