About Kubukubu Tented Lodge
Kubukubu is a sound, sensible choice for travellers who want comfort without paying for show. It is a tented lodge that appears on many Lemala routes, and photographs show thatched tents looking over open plains, particularly beautiful when the sunset catches them. The appeal is a straightforward good stay at a fair price.
Inside, tents have canopy beds under mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms, and the front opens to a wide outlook. Families are shown having breakfast on the deck as the plains turn gold. Meals, drinks and activities can be arranged on an all-inclusive basis if you prefer fewer decisions on the road.
The infinity pool is the social centre in the afternoons, with guests resting at its edge after a morning of game viewing. A full restaurant and WiFi complete the practical side. Lemala uses the lodge on both the Tarangire and central Serengeti stages of different itineraries, so ask us which setting suits your route.
- Thatched tents with open views across the plains
- Canopy beds under mosquito nets in en-suite tents
- Infinity pool looking out over the grassland
- Breakfast on the deck at sunrise or sunset
- Full restaurant, WiFi and an all-inclusive option
- Used across many Lemala routes, from short loops to long circuits
Setting
Kubukubu looks out over wide, open plains, and its photographs show the tents catching the low light at sunset. Lemala's routes use it on both the Tarangire and central Serengeti legs, so the surroundings you experience depend on which stage of your trip it falls. In either case, expect big skies, grassland and a feeling of space.
Rooms and tents
Rooms are canvas tents with thatched roofing and en-suite bathrooms. Beds are dressed with mosquito-net canopies, and twin or double arrangements are possible. The front of the tent opens towards the plains, with a deck for sitting out. Expect a comfortable, practical standard of room, without the extravagance of a luxury camp, but with everything a good night needs.
Dining
A full-service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and breakfast on the deck at sunrise is a favourite. Guests can usually expect a varied, filling menu suited to long days on safari, with picnic lunches possible on drive days. An all-inclusive option is available, and we can explain precisely what it covers for your booking.
Things to do from here
- Morning and afternoon game drives
- Sunrise breakfast on the deck
- Afternoons by the infinity pool
- Optional balloon flight or night drive, where the itinerary allows
- Birdwatching from the tent verandas
When to stay
In the Serengeti, July to October is the classic dry season for strong game viewing and the Mara River crossings in the north, while January and February bring the southern calving plains. Tarangire is at its best from June to October, when animals gather near water. The long rains usually run from March to May and the short rains in November and December.
Good to know
- The lodge appears at different stages of different itineraries, so ask us which location applies to your dates.
- WiFi is offered, but connectivity can be patchy in remote areas. Download anything important before you travel.
- Ask us to confirm child policies and the all-inclusive details before you book.
- Transfers and game drives are arranged by Lemala, and wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.
