About Ewanjan Tented Camp

Ewanjan is an intimate tented camp tucked into a quiet corner of the Seronera Valley, in the central Serengeti. The Seronera is a wildlife crossroads between the southern grasslands and the northern woodlands, known for good game viewing all year and for its resident big cats.

The camp has been placed at the end of a blind valley. That means other vehicles do not cross your view of the plains during the day, and in the evening the sunsets are uninterrupted, with no electric lights in sight.

Fourteen en-suite tents run along the valley edge, with decks that open to the plains. The mess tent, with its leather sofas, rugs and chandeliers, gives way to a campfire under the stars when the sun goes down.

  • Secluded blind-valley position with uninterrupted views
  • Fourteen en-suite tents, two of them with two bedrooms
  • Outside decks with loungers for tea and sundowners
  • In the heart of the Seronera, famous for big cats
  • Children welcome through the Lemala Cubs programme
  • Nearest airstrip around thirty minutes away

Setting

Ewanjan sits at the far end of a secluded valley in the Seronera, where rivers keep the game close all year. The surrounding country is plains and kopjes, with leopard, lion and cheetah regularly seen nearby. In April to June and again from November to January the annual migration passes through the area, adding extra drama to an already rewarding setting.

Rooms and tents

Tents are spacious and comfortable, each with two queen-size or double beds and warm duvets, an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and shower, wooden floors and storage, and 24-hour solar lighting. An outside deck with loungers suits early tea and afternoon gin and tonics. Two tents have two bedrooms for family or friends travelling together.

Dining

The mess tent has separate bar, sitting and dining areas, furnished with leather sofas, side cabinets, rugs and chests, with chandeliers hanging inside. In the evening you can sit under the chandeliers or move outside to the campfire under the stars. Complimentary drinks are included, except for premium wines and spirits.

Things to do from here

  • Game drives through the Seronera Valley
  • Following resident big cats such as lion, leopard and cheetah
  • Watching the migration when it passes through
  • Sundowners on your private deck
  • Evenings by the campfire
  • Family time with the Lemala Cubs programme

When to stay

The Seronera offers good wildlife throughout the year. The dry season from roughly June to October is the easiest for game viewing, while the migration passes through around April to June and again between November and January. The long rains from March to May bring green plains and fewer vehicles.

Good to know

  • The Seronera airstrip is around thirty minutes away. Lemala arranges your transfers.
  • Children are welcome. Ask us about the Lemala Cubs programme and family arrangements.
  • Power is solar with a back-up generator, and there are charging points in the lounge, bar and tents.
  • Two tents have two bedrooms. Ask early if you want one for a family or group.
