About Serengeti Queens Camp

Serengeti Queens Camp is a simple tented camp that puts money into time on safari rather than elaborate tents. It sits among acacia trees on the central Serengeti plains, in green canvas that blends gently into the landscape. Spending less on the tent means more days on the plains, which is the whole idea.

The photographs show the essentials done well. A fire circle with wooden safari chairs, a lounge tent with a sofa and patterned cushions, and an open-sided dining tent laid with white linen and orange napkins for breakfast. It is modest in scale but friendly in feel, the sort of place where guests swap sightings over breakfast.

That balance suits travellers who spend most of the day on game drives and just want a clean bed, a good meal and a place to talk about what they saw. The central plains reward long days out, and this camp makes them affordable, with a warm welcome waiting each evening when the vehicle returns.

  • Fire circle with wooden safari chairs on the open plains
  • Lounge tent with sofa seating and patterned cushions
  • Open-sided dining tent with white linen and orange napkins
  • Green canvas tents among acacias in central Serengeti
  • En-suite tents at a gentle price point
  • Budget left over for extra days on safari

Setting

The camp is set on the central Serengeti plains among acacia trees, with open grassland all around. The lounge tent looks out across the plains, and the fire circle sits in the open where the sky takes over at dusk. Expect wide views, evening stars and the sounds of the bush after dark. Central Serengeti is a dependable area for lion, cheetah, elephant and plains game.

Rooms and tents

Accommodation is in green canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, sitting beneath acacia trees. The photographs show the tents from outside but suggest straightforward, practical interiors. Expect tidy comfort with the simplicity that suits a budget camp. Ask us to confirm bed configurations, hot water arrangements and how far each tent sits from the main areas.

Dining

Meals are served in an open-sided dining tent set with white linen, and the orange napkins folded for breakfast are a charming touch. Expect plain, generous camp cooking with enough variety to keep a long trip interesting. Please tell us about dietary needs ahead of time, and ask about packed lunches for full-day game drives away from camp.

Things to do from here

  • Game drives across the central Serengeti
  • Full-day drives with a packed lunch
  • Campfire evenings under the stars
  • Birdwatching around the camp and acacias
  • Optional balloon flight, arranged through Lemala

When to stay

The Serengeti is at its best from July to October, when herds move north and the dry weather makes tracks easy, and again in January and February as calving gathers life on the southern plains. Central Serengeti works across much of the year. The long rains from roughly March to May bring lush scenery and fewer vehicles, while November and December bring shorter showers.

Good to know

  • This is a simple camp, so expect limited power and variable connectivity in the tents.
  • Lemala arranges transfers, flights and game drives as part of your itinerary.
  • Ask us to confirm tent types, bathroom arrangements and whether hot water is on request or scheduled.
  • Ask us about child policies before booking with younger travellers.
